Harvest Hosts Membership ROI Calculator

Will a Harvest Hosts membership actually save you money?

This tool compares your current nightly campground spend against the cost of a Harvest Hosts annual membership plus what you would typically spend supporting each host you visit.

Enter your own numbers below. We do not fabricate pricing, so look up the current membership price on the official site before you calculate.

Prices change. Use the figure listed on the Harvest Hosts site today.

Most visits are a single night, so this is roughly the number of separate host visits per year. Many hosts allow up to four nights.

Use the average you actually pay, not a national average. Higher rates favor the membership; cheaper state parks or boondocking shrink the gap.

Hosts ask members to make a purchase to support the location. Enter what you realistically expect to spend on wine, produce, a meal, or admission.

Calculator Methodology

Net savings = (nights × campground rate) − (membership + nights × host spend). Break even nights = membership ÷ (campground rate − host spend), when that gap is positive.

The math assumes one paid campground night avoided per host visit. It does not include fuel detours to reach a host, alcohol or food you would have bought anyway, or the value of unique experiences.

All dollar values are inputs you provide. We do not preload a membership price because it changes; always confirm the current figure on the Harvest Hosts site.

RV Solar Calculator Questions

What does the efficiency factor in the solar calculator do?

It is the share of the rated panel wattage you can expect to keep after everyday losses from heat, cable runs, dust and charge controller conversion.

The box starts at 80 percent, a common planning allowance.

Drop it toward 70 percent if your panels lie flat on a hot roof or catch afternoon shade.

Why does the calculator suggest more wattage than the kit I am looking at?

Kit listings quote the rated output measured under standard test conditions, while the calculator sizes for the power you need on an ordinary day.

It also rounds up to a panel size that exists and adds one more step of headroom for cloud and short winter light.

A gap of roughly a hundred watts between the two figures is normal rather than a fault.

How do I enter a compressor fridge?

Enter its running watts, then set the hours to the time the compressor actually runs, not the hours the fridge is switched on.

A compressor fridge cycles on and off through the day, so around eight running hours is a fair starting point in mild weather.

Raise it in hot weather, because the compressor works longer to hold temperature.

What daily power figure should I use if I have never measured mine?

Pick the travel style closest to your camping and the estimator fills in the appliance hours for you.

Then change the few lines you know are wrong, such as an air conditioner you never run or an internet dish that stays on all day.

That gives you a workable starting figure without a meter.

Why are battery capacity and panel wattage two separate answers?

Panel wattage answers how fast you refill the battery in a day of sun.

Battery capacity answers how long you can keep going with no useful sun at all.

Two rigs with identical daily use can need different banks, because one parks in the open for a weekend and the other sits under trees for a week.

What peak sun hours should I enter for my region?

Choose your region from the list and the box fills with a regional daily average, so you are not guessing at the input that moves the answer most.

If you travel between regions, size on the lower figure.

Planning for your weakest location keeps the system usable everywhere you park.

Do I need an account to use these calculators?

No. Every tool on this page runs in your browser with no sign in and no email address.

Signing in only adds the option to save a result to your history so you can compare it against a later one.
